Implemented our Compassionate Communities Methodology thru our Keralty Compassionate Neighborhood approach incorporating the following in partnership with local organization Christensen Institute (CICHE) and National Health Collaborative for the Underserved ( NHIT).
Conducted focus groups to listen to the needs of the community.
Members of the community started coming up with solutions by identifying local assets with partnership of CICHE .
Empowered Community leaders by hiring 6 community health workers.
Community Health Workers with the guidance of KCC have led focus groups, prioritized communities needs and began working with local resources and leaders on implementation.
Gathered what the needs of the communities are through our partnership with NHIT.
Major Community Issues
Lead was found in drinking water
Sewers were not cleaned or maintained properly
Lack of security in the community due to shootings.
No place for the community to gather
How they are working to find solutions.
Through work with local leaders had DOH come to the community to do lead testing.
Raised concerns to leaders and sewers were cleaned.
Working with housing development to address the possibility of bringing back security to the community.
Although location has not been identified for Community center they have had events for halloween celebration, Medicaid enrollment fair and farmers market.
