This Memorial Day weekend marked a meaningful moment for Sanitas as our team stepped beyond our centers and into the Homestead community..
In a powerful first-time collaboration, Sanitas volunteers from different areas of the organization joined forces with Keralty Compassionate Communities (KCC) to support 500 families in our local community.
While our daily work typically occurs in clinical and administrative settings, this event gave us the opportunity to show care in a different way.. While we were there to provide meals, our real mission was to combat the isolation that so often accompanies food insecurity.
To us, "putting the T-shirt on" is about more than volunteering; It means showing up with heart and representing the values that define Sanitas and Keralty Compassionate Communities.
Building Long-Term Bridges
This event gave us a wonderful opportunity to truly listen to our community. In between the smiles and conversations, we were able to share information about Sanitas Care Membership and the Compassionate Neighborhood project, helping families know that our commitment to their well-being continues beyond a single day. .
It was about planting seeds for a healthier, more connected future
This successful collaboration is just the beginning. The energy and commitment shown by our volunteers in Homestead set the stage for more opportunities to serve together with KCC
To every volunteer who dedicated their holiday weekend to this cause: You were the flow that made this event a success. Your presence proved that we are more than healthcare providers, we are a compassionate community in action.
the 3rd Compassionate Care Symposium hosted by Fundación Keralty, we are part of a powerful global conversation:
How do we address loneliness… from health?
Thomas Cudjoe, MD, MPH, MA’s presentation is this:
Social isolation and loneliness are not the same.
One is objective; having few social connections.
The other is deeply human and subjective; the feeling that something is missing… that the connections we have are not enough.
